Two years after the opening of the Okura, September 7 - 11, 1964, the International Monetary Fund(IMF) General Assembly was held at the Heian Room with a total of 2000 representatives from 103 countries and 500 press members attending.
The Heian Room was the site of the general meeting during the Tokyo Conference of International Union of Marine Insurance (IMUI) held at the Okura in 1975.
The Okura's Chairman Iwajiro Noda greeted at the final session of the International Monetary Conference (IMC) held at the Okura in 1977.
Later original key chains were presented by IMC to every hotel staff as a token of their appreciation.
During the 1979 Tokyo Summit, a luncheon party was hosted by Prime Minister and Mrs. Masayoshi Ohira at their official residence to welcome U.S. President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter. The Okura had the honor of serving the reception.
The White House Press Center was created at the Akebono Room in the South Wing during the 1979 Tokyo Summit.
The Leading Hotels of the World (LHW), of which the Okura was a member, held its Extraordinary General Assembly, for the first time in Asia, at the Okura between November 28 - December 2, 1983.
For the 1986 Tokyo Summit, a welcome board for U.S. President, the accompanying entourage and the press was set up at the South Wing entrance.

The enthronement ceremony of Emperor Akihito was performed at the Imperial Palace in 1990. The Okura hosted envoys from 15 countries and one international organization.
U.S. President Bill Clinton addressed members of the press at the Heian Room during the Tokyo Summit in 1993.
At the end of the 1993 Tokyo Summit, U.S. President Clinton and Japanese Prime Minister Kiichi Miyazawa met the press at the Akebono Room.
After the 1993 Tokyo Summit, a letter came from President Clinton to thank the Okura for its hospitality.
The Okura was in charge of food and beverage service at the Sponsors' Hospitality Village between February 7 - 22 during the Nagano Olympic Winter Games in 1998.
The Hotel Okura service team was sent to the G8 Summit Meeting in Kyushu and Okinawa in 2000. The staff provided food and beverage service at the International Media Center.
During the Okinawa Summit, the Okura had the honor of serving the dinner party held at the North Hall in the Shuri Castle.
The Dioxin 2007 (The 27th International Symposium on Halogenated Persistent Organic Pollutants) was held at the Okura's meeting and banquet rooms between September 2 - 7, 2007.
To commemorate the Japan-Brazil Exchange Year and the 100th Anniversary of Japanese Immigration to Brazil, a reception was held at the Heian Room in 2008.
It was attended by the Emperor and Empress, the Crown Prince and several government officials.
The Okura was selected by the Japan Hotel Association as one of the Tokyo hotels to send its protocol experts to the G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit in 2008.
Following the success in 1992, the World Steel Association Annual Conference was once again held at the Heian Room in 2010.
A full-course Japanese dinner was prepared and served by the Okura at the Economic Leaders' Meeting of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) held in Yokohama in November, 2010.
