Hotel Okura Tokyo established the Hotel Okura Tokyo Cultural Fund in April, 2017 to support the Arts and culture.
Based on our mécénat activities for the art, music and international exchange, we support activities focused on these fields.

About the activities subject to donations

The donations' subjects promote the Arts and cultural activities through music, art or international exchange.

About the selection of the donations' subjects

The donations' subjects are selected between private projects and organizations that, having submitted an application to the "2021 Arts Fund", have been judged suitable for assistance and therefore have been examined by the Association for Corporate Support of the Arts.
The jury members from our fund are part of the jury of the "2021 Arts Fund", composed by experts in the Arts and culture, and decide which activities to support and the corresponding amount.

Norishige Yamamoto
“Noh kyogen performer”

The organization of the kyogen performer brothers, Norishige Yamamoto and Norihide Yamamoto aims to promote the appeal of kyogen based on the motto “audience friendliness.” This activity creates an opportunity for even toddlers to experience art, and the performance can be enjoyed by parents and children up to junior high schoolers. The event includes a presentation and explanation of “Kakiyamabushi,” demonstration of the ohayashi music, and a noh chant workshop.

NPO The Private Art School Society
to Encourage International Exchange
of Children's Art (The PASS)

The exhibition was first held in 1978 when art schools from Kyoto, Osaka, and Shiga gathered for international exchange through children's art, and sent children's art to Asian and African countries. The PASS has been promoting the message “Children's art; letters that require no words.” For many years, through children's art exchange, the PASS has nurtured mutual understanding and friendship, while engaging in activities to become the cornerstone of peace for the next generation, and contributing to art education.

Non Profit Organization “Little Creators”

A four-day camp to cultivate friendships and deepen mutual understanding through culture for young people from ASEAN countries, India, Hong Kong, and other countries. between the ages of 15 and 25. The program will include the collaborative creation of art as well as joint activities for the Arts and culture, including music and dance lessons, with recognition of diversity, self-expression, and the introduction of other countries. A concert will be held at the end as part of the presentation of the results. Young musicians from ASEAN nations and others will assist with the performance. Youngsters from children’s nursing homes in Japan are also scheduled to attend the camp.

Non Profit Organization “Acchi Cocchi”

A project to produce works that can be enjoyed by people of all ages on the theme of “Karaoke,” which is uniquely Japanese but highly recognized abroad. The project will aim to “create a space that connects all generations with art and sound” with the collaboration of Australian artists madeleine flynn and tim humphrey. During the creation process, there will be a variety of workshops held, mainly for children, in areas such as art, music, and dance. At the end of the activities, a documentary film will be made to verify the effects of the cross-generational interactions of the project.
